Man! What a week! Downtown Dublin was fun, exciting and full of energy this past week. There were people of all races, ages, political parties, and denominations at both the National Day of Prayer and First Friday night.
I am so proud of OUR city!! It truly makes my heart full to know that we have a place in “Downtown Dublin” that we All can come together as a community and enjoy the activities and each other. Why in the world would you want to live anywhere else?!
The excitement started Thursday at noon when the National Day of Prayer Task Force had a tremendous turnout of people like you and me that want and prayed for unity in our country but especially in our community. The Good Lord was surely there.
Then Friday night everyone was able to let their hair down a little at First Friday. Jackson Street was closed from Monroe to Jefferson Street. The restaurants were full, the streets had vendors and some great music, dancing and painting going on. People visited and shared a lot of smiles and laughter.
I can’t begin to thank all the people that worked not only for the planning of these two events but also in seeing the vision of what a vibrant Downtown can do for a community. It was cool.
