Believe it or not, we need to start getting ready for Thanksgiving. The planning has definitely begun at our house. In fact, Cile and I will be making the dressing tonight. After 38 years, we can do it without having a difference of opinions on how it should be done. It’s easy, I just shut up and we do it her way.
This weekend we had a lot to be thankful for. Phil Jr, Beau, Norah Jane and I rode in the Veterans Day parade in my good friend Charlie Garbutt’s restored pick-up truck. We celebrated two birthdays, our Grandson’s and Granddaughter’s. Beau turned 8 and Norah Jane turned 5.
Sunday our newest Granddaughter, Meredith Layne was Baptized at our church, FUMC Dublin. She has got to be one of the happiest, most content babies I’ve ever seen. The Bonds family and the Best Family came together to celebrate the occasion. Our pastor, Barry Giddens, taught us a valuable lesson we all need to be reminded of frequently. The title was “In Everything Give Thanks.” Barry suggested that we write down as many blessings we could think of, and that we would be amazed by the results. (See Barry, I was listening!)
God is with us in everything. We are blessed beyond belief! To me, this weekend was just one example of what a blessed man I am!
If you are so compelled, start writing down what you are thankful for. You will feel good as you do it.
